Description

Flacourtia inermis is a native plant from eastern Indonesia and distibute in tropical area in primary-secondary rainforest. Perrenial and growth until 15 m or more. hvae bark smooth and the wood is hard with grey pathces. 

Leaves oval shaped with serrate leaf margin (5- 20cm long and 2,5-9 cm wide). Have spiral Arrangement and tend to hang down from the branches. Young leaves is orang.red colored. 

The flower is cluster 2-8, unscented flower and 3-5 mm diameter. The flower have greenish yellow sepal and approximately free-flowering. Fruit is grouped of 2-7 and each twig may hold at least 20 fruit. the fruit is round and red-shiny collored like cherry when mature. Fruit have 4-5 small black tipped projection arranged in a circle at the apex. 

Edible fruit and have medicinal function. In traditional medicine, roots are used to prepare a poultice that is applied to wounds, sores, and sore throats. Leaf and root infusions are used to treat stomach distension. Timber & Products, in Java, the wood is used to pound rice due to the hardness of the wood.
